Dear Zo-B Trice

Dear Zoe,

I seriously have to say that every single day I have to stop myself from devouring you. I want to put your whole face in my mouth and swallow you whole. I'm serious.

I never thought I could love anyone this much. I love you so much that sometimes I have to stop what I'm doing and take deep breaths. If I am away from you for a few hours, I can't wait to come home and smoosh my face into your chubby cheeks.

Let's see..what's going on? You are doing a great job pulling yourself up to standing now, except you seem thoroughly perturbed when you fall down on your butt (which is a lot). You think it's totally hilarious when you try and eat my nose and I protest. You laugh and laugh. I have to admit, it is a pretty funny game. You're the happiest little gal in the universe, I think. You adore your brother and sister. You love the computer and you love to video chat with Aunt Jess and Grandpa David - in fact, you just pulled the B key off the other day when you were up to your computing shenanigans. You have a million teeth, you are sleeping better, and you still don't care much for food. You liked avocado a lot the other day, but then today you just smashed it all between your fingers and didn't eat any of it. You do like to eat paper, though. That seems consistent.

Ok - just a quick update.

I love you, baby awesome. It is ridiculous how much.

Love,
Mama

Dishwasher...I love you.

* a word about the legwarmers. Yes, she wears these all the time. It's so she doesn't get rug burns from all her mad crawling. I have more ordered, so soon she won't be wearing these stripey ones in EVERY PICTURE.

peach juice is a great gel

When Zoe B (Zo-B Trice as she is sometimes called these days - you know, Obie Trice? Zo-B Trice? Get it? You can thank Travis) is finished eating, she likes to run her fingers through her hair. Today, she had peaches.

RASCAL!

I can't turn my head for 2 seconds without her getting into something. Our already messy house now looks like a tornado hit it.

SICK

Sorry for the lack of posts. Zoe is sick - has her first real fever. I guess it's a cold because of the abundance of snot.
My poor baby!

In the tub

The bathtub is a big fave for Zoe B - if it's with her siblings it's extra-awesome.

OOH! Almost forgot!

On Thursday when we were leaving Tobi's house, Zoe waved goodbye to her and said "ba-ba"!

That's big.

Also - this child hates to sleep. Bedtime has been RIDICULOUS lately.

Dear Zoe B

Hi, Rascal.

I just watched a clip of an interview with Sarah Palin. This is an election year, and I tell ya, baby, I'm worried. Sarah Palin is the Republican VP candidate. She is attractive and charming and not even close to being smart enough, experienced enough, worldly enough or prepared enough to be our next vice president. Especially when her running mate is about 105 years old and has had 4 bouts with cancer. But people like her. They think she's "scrappy". I like "cocky wacko" - I heard that today. She is a cocky wacko. She is in no way prepared to lead this country, yet she says that when John McCain asked her to be his running mate she didn't hesitate. She didn't even blink.

That seems like something you might give some thought. Especially with a 4 month old baby with Down Syndrome and a pregnant teenage daughter. Especially when you count the PTA as part of your better leadership experience.

But then again, as Eve Ensler says, "...Sarah Palin does not much believe in thinking."

There's a world of stupid people out there, baby girl. Your Grandpa always told me I was smarter than 80% of the population, and growing up I didn't really believe him. But now I know it's true. Scary, but true. (If you're reading this as a teenager, you'll probably disagree with him on that one.) I wish it weren't true. Our country is in a huge mess and I hope for your sake that we get back on the right track and are, as a nation, smart enough to know when it's time to switch gears. Because if there ever was a time, it's now.

I'm rambling. I just hope we get this right. My hope is really for you, my sweet girl. I want you to grow up in a country of which you can be proud, with leaders you find inspirational. I want you to know that in your country, race doesn't have anything to do with ANYTHING - especially not in a presidential election. Where two adults who love each other can get married, no matter their sex. Where we work on new developments in energy and work to save our planet from harm we've caused. I shudder to think about what the world might be like for you if we continue on with these Republican morons in charge.

I hope that when you are reading this you will be learning about Barack Obama, the one who turned things around for us, in your history class. And that you won't have ever heard of Sarah Palin.

I love you my sweet of the sweets. Today you sat in the back of our van saying "loodaloodalooo" while I put an Obama sticker on the bumper.

Love,

Mama

A letter from Grandma Patty

My Dearest Zoe,

It’s been three weeks since your summer visit to Michigan came to an end and I’m already cruising for plane tickets to come and visit you and your sweet family. I loved having you here for three weeks. I miss you so much. Watching you grow (via the website) is fantastic and I appreciate it so much. However, nothing compares to having your warm, sweet self in my arms. Listening to you jabber, squeal and laugh is such sweet music. And I’m addicted to your terrific baby scent.

There are so many blessings about having you, Zoe B for my “grand baby”. And despite the distance apart your Momma is making it bearable documenting your life for us to follow on the website.
More blessings: You are totally adorable. We all know that. Your Grandpa David and I have the distinct pleasure of experiencing you like an amazing rerun of the “sweetest little pumpkin baby”, AKA Chelsea Bauer (Bean)-Greene. Now your Momma and Daddy get the minute, by hour, by day joy of watching you grow and learn and have tons of fun together. From all reports you sound so much like Chelsea when she was a little one. You look so much like her. She tried not to sleep – so as not to miss a thing. She was always happy and sailed along with whatever was going on. All in all, Chelsea’s a lucky momma to have such a sweet daughter and you such a fabulous Mom.
And there are all the people who love you…Geez Louise! That’s a blessing.
I’ve had to put away your baby swing and chair; and mail you boxes of things you left behind so your suitcase would be lighter. Your backyard swing is there to remind me of your laughing, happy face as you swept back and forth. I love to recite to you bits of The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson from The Garden of Verses:

How do you like to go up in a swing,

Up in the air so blue?

Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Up in the air and over the wall,

Till I can see so wide,

River and trees and cattle and all

Over the countryside--

Till I look down on the garden green,

Down on the roof so brown--

Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

(I only know the first verse, but perhaps I’ll know them all when I see you again.)
Our blessings abound.
Your adoring Grandma Patty misses and loves you always.

I love the shower door

Whenever we're in the bathroom, Zoe spends the whole time right next to the shower door. She tries to pull up on it, bang on it, open and close it, crawl through, what have you.
